Teresa Giudice begs fans for money to pay financial fraud legal defense

Teresa Giudice and her husband, Joe, have been indicted on multiple counts of federal financial fraud including conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bankruptcy fraud, and falsifying loan applications. They’ve plead not guilty and face up to 50 years in prison if convicted. The general consensus is that Joe will at least serve some prison time. Teresa’s trial is set for early October, so we’ll have to stay tuned to see how it plays out.

Those of us who pay attention to these things know that Teresa and Joe regularly flaunt their ill-gotten wealth on television, in the tabloids, and on social media. Glancing through Teresa’s Twitter photos, I’m astonished at all the expensive dinners, parties and vacations she regularly has. Even if you don’t know these people, just looking at Teresa’s Twitter account will convince you that they live large. Joe and Teresa buy their daughters things like three foot wide chocolate Easter eggs, high end birthday cakes and quad bikes. Look at this family Christmas photo, check out the designer tree and how expensively everyone is dressed. This is not a family scaling back their lifestyle following a bankruptcy.

That’s partly why it’s so ripe that Teresa held a fundraiser to get money for her legal defense fund. She put out a whole press release announcing it. In response to the negative reaction to this news, Teresa tried to act like she didn’t really just beg people for money.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey star will be making a personal appearance to ask her loyal followers to donate money to her legal defense at the Malibu Beach Resort on Thursday night.

“Her supporters and millions of fans around the world strongly believe Teresa will be vindicated soon and are seeking donations for the reality TV star, who has four young children,” a press release about the event reads.

“The group is dedicated to helping Teresa stay out of prison and also help pay any fines or other restitution that Teresa and Joe are ordered to pay.”

As RadarOnline.com has previously reported, Teresa and Juicy Joe pleaded not guilty to the federal charges, which include allegations of falsifying tax returns and W2 forms.

While the Bravo star has dismissed the charges that she is having financial difficulties, the event organizers expect to have “hundreds of fans collecting money” to help Teresa and Joe pay for their lengthy legal battle.

Teresa and Joe are facing 50 years behind bars if they are convicted of committing the crimes with which they are charged.

Perhaps due to backlash about the fundraiser, Teresa is denying the information in the press release, Tweeting: “Tonight’s appearance at Maliblue is just a meet & greet w/ fans. I just heard that some of the workers there wanted to support me, and that is very sweet & I appreciate it, but if anyone wants to support me, please do it by donating to a charity I love: @NephCure. Xx”

These people give zero f*cks. I just hope that the jury in each of their cases (they’re being tried separately) is allowed to fully examine Teresa’s Twitter account. Her tweets should definitely be admissible. She consistently purchases whatever she wants and shows it off to the public. This is not a case of Teresa doing her “job,” this is a family who systematically defrauded people so that they could become rich and famous. They think the rules don’t apply to them. Maybe Teresa will learn how to budget when she has to buy her luxury items from the commissary.
