Rob McElhenney is a renowned American actor, businessman and filmmaker who has received recognition among movie fanatics as the co-creator, executive producer, co-writer, and occasional director of the FX/FXX comedy series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, in which he starred as Ronald “Mac” McDonald.

Rob McElhenney got his first major acting role with a small part in the 1997 film The Devil’s Own, however, his role was not included in the final edit. Rob McElhenney had a cameo appearance as an extra in the Game of Thrones episode “Winterfell” in 2019. While he was preparing to star in the seventh season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Rob McElhenney gained 60 lb (27 kg) of fat and let his beard grow out in an attempt to give extra humour to his character.

A month after the season was filmed, Rob McElhenney later lost 23 lb (10 kg), along with the rest of the weight later in the year in preparation for the next season. In preparation for the show’s 13th season, he worked on his body to become excessively fit and athletic.
